Jah Jah’s Thoughts: I am going to be ever honest with you, I had no idea where I was going when creating this piece. At that time, I was going through a diagnosis of what I like to call is “creator’s block”, when I was trying to think of ways to tell a story from a broad perspective. Until one day when scrolling through social media, I had to stumble along with an article about a classmate who attended Tuskegee University with me by the name of Mel Groves. Mr. Groves was a black transgender male who was killed in 2021 in his hometown of Jackson, MS due to gun violence. He was fearless and self-driven that has walked the Tuskegee campus. He was the 39th transgender person to be killed last year.
